Also known as fava beans, or imidumbe locally, broad beans are the little green wonders that can add a wholesome and natural kick to a long list of dishes. With a sweet, grassy taste and a buttery texture, this bountiful bean is rich in protein, fibre, iron, B2, B3, B5, potassium, zinc, and other minerals.
Once boiled, broad beans make a great protein and fibre packed addition to risottos, soups, stews, and frittatas. They are also great served as a scrumptious side dish, seasoned beautifully with rosemary, thyme, and pepper.
