Also known as the prickly pear or cactus pear, nopales are a common ingredient in Mexican cuisine.
The fruit, flower, oil and the flattened shoots rising from the stem of the plant of the nopales cactus are rich sources of nutrients. They have such a high water and nutrient content that they have even been attributed to reducing the effects of hangovers. Not only this, but it is thought that nopales can even help with weight loss due to their low calorie and high fibre content.
